Christopher Contracting directly employs all of its plumbing and civil construction tradesmen, labourers, concreters, welders, machine operators and safety personnel on each project. We find this ensures us more control over a timely and consistent delivery of our projects. We place great importance on retention of our workforce, a large percentage of our core employees, totalling more than 200, have been working with us for more than 15 years. We have even helped to produce a second generation of plumbers with a number of father and son teams on staff.
Whilst many in the industry complain of skills shortages, CCP&D and CCP&C make no such complaint. We ensure the ongoing viability of our highly skilled workforce by providing unequalled quality training of directly indentured apprentices. Our tradesmen of the future are grounded in all facets of commercial construction plumbing, Drainage and Pipelaying and gain the highest standards of workmanship by the time they complete their apprenticeships or traineeships.
In addition to our apprenticeship program, continual up skilling or our work force is an ongoing activity, with programs in plant operation, safety and construction skills, insuring a multi-skilled vibrant workforce for the future.
CCP&D and CCP&C are committed to providing a safe and healthy work environment for our employees and for contractors, trainees, visitors to our workplaces and the general public however they may come in contact with our projects. Adopting and promoting the provisions of the Work Health and Safety Act and its associated Regulations, Codes of Practice along with Australian Standards and Industry Guides, together with significant importance placed in the areas of hazard elimination and risk management, we aim to achieve this. Our goal to reduce the incidence of lost time and medical treatment injuries helps us to work toward our ultimate continual improvement object is to eliminate the incidence of work related injury and illness. We are committed to the maintenance of our record of zero prohibition and improvement notices issued by Workplace Health and Safety Regulators in the last 5 years.
Being a successful business means we have to take our responsibility to sustainable practices seriously. This includes ensuring we maintain optimum environmental practices on every project, protecting the surrounding land and communities from possible harm. CCP&D and CCP&C have analysed the environmental aspects of our daily business and have taken steps toward successfully carrying out a number of environmental initiatives geared toward not only protecting the environment but to preserve and improve it for the generations to come.
Our company has a genuine regard for the interests of the community generally and more specifically, the communities in which we operate. Being a good corporate citizen and supporting the community is a major part of the way CCP&D and CCP&C do business.
